2. Vatican Museums
3. Metropolitan Museum of Art
4. Getty Museum
5. Musee d'Orsay
6. Uffizi
7. Art Institute of Chicago
8. Tate Modern
9. Prado

Let's see, I've been to five of these. Kind of surprised that Pompidou and MOMA aren't on there. I would have expected NYC and Paris to be overrepresented on the list because of tourism.

Reciprocal blog browsing, eh? Tripadvisor's numbers are suspicious. I suspect that you're right that the MOMA would be in the top ten in terms of real visitor numbers and the National Gallery, London must be close. Pompidou is probably a bit lower.

One has to wonder where the great museums that didn't make the list would fall, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Galleria dell'Accademia and Bargello in Florence, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam (the former's count thrown off by its embarassingly long closure for renovations), the Musei Capitolini in Rome, and the Tate Britain in London. The survey completely neglects Chinese and Japanese museums that might well challenge these European and American entries in visitor numbers, if not in hits on a western website.

Talking about Museums' Mafia, ask the Metropolitan, the Brooklyn and Boston Museums, the Berlin Egyptian Museum, and Vatican Egyptian Museum, yes, even the Vatican's Egyptian Museum, what they have done to the Mansoor family. They are masters at conspiracy. If you ask them any questions, they will probably say "no comments". If they do, please visit http:/www.mansooramarnacollection.com and see for yourself.

The National Museum of Natural History is a museum administered by the Smithsonian Institution, located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The museum's collections total over 125 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, and human cultural artifacts. It is the second most popular of all of the Smithsonian museums.
